BlogOn X – My First Blogging Conference

In just over a week, on Sunday 6th May 2018, I’m going to my first blogging conference, BlogOn X.

-287Days -2Hours -2Minutes -32Seconds

I am going to be completely honest with you – I have very mixed feelings about attending BlogOn X! Having never attended any blogging events yet since I started blogging, I am a little unsure of what to expect. I have heard that BlogOn is not too busy, very informative and friendly. Bonus. I do think that BlogOn X will be a perfect start for me, still being a newbie blogger.

I am really looking forward to attending Blogon X . This year it is being held at Hotel Football in Manchester. 2018 marks the 10th BlogOn event and i’ve hear through the grapevine that it is possibly the biggest yet!  Bloggers will be coming together at BlogOn X to listen to some of the big names and gurus in the blogging and social media world. These big names and gurus will be sharing their top tips and tricks. There will be PRs from various brands who will be available to network with as well as all the amazing fellow bloggers.

When I am put into new situations I am unsure of I can be incredibly shy and socially awkward, so this experience is super exciting, but is also super-scary for me. Once I settle in, I open up and my bubbly side comes out to play.

While attending BlogOn, I am also looking forward to to meeting up with some fellow bloggers who are members of an absolutely super supportive bloggers facebook group. I am looking forward to meeting and chatting to them in person and not just over a keyboard. Plus, during my time in Manchester I get to spend a night in a hotel – my eldest son Cameron is coming along for the ride! Which is a bonus, I get some quality mother and son time with Cameron. Plus, no early morning wake up calls from my 3 youngest sons! I might even manage a little lie in before BlogOn X starts. (Heres to wishful thinking)

Getting To Know Me

So, for anyone else attending who wants to be nosey about me beforehand, here are some answers to the questions posed by Blogon…

If You Spot Me, Come And Say Hi!

  • What’s your favourite pizza topping?

My favourite pizza topping has to be ‘Neptune’ which is Tuna, Peppers and Onion

  • You can have dinner with any three guests dead or alive- who do you choose and why?

Firstly, my Mum who I lost in 2009. I miss our chats and secret sharing. Secondly, Princess Diana, she taught us that everyone deserves to have a voice. Thirdly, Michelle Obama, for being an inspiration to young woman.

  • Up to now what would you consider being your biggest life achievement?

Being told that I had ruined my life by being pregnant at 17. I am now a Mum to 5 absolutely amazing boys. They have and are doing me proud. I have my own childcare business and my life has been far from ruined. In fact, its become more purposeful and meaningful.

  • If you woke up tomorrow as a character from any Disney film or book who would you be and why?

Rapunzel from Tangled, she knows her worth, she isn’t up to the standard she holds herself to, so she does something about it. Rapunzel falls in love, but she doesn’t need her prince to secure her happiness — she does that on her own.

  • What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Ironically, turn off my phone alarm and check my social media.

  • If you won the lottery what would be the very first thing you would buy and why?

The first thing I would buy if I would buy a family holiday somewhere warm and sunny for myself, my husband, our 5 boys and my dad. So we can have quality family time without the interruption of daily life.

  • What is your favourite quote from a movie?

favourite movie quote

  • If you were a superhero what would your super power be?

To take away all of the judgement and negative impact on the world

  • What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

To just be myself, If others don’t like me, that’s their problem. Do what is right for you. No one else. (I still struggle with this now.)

  • Which emoji do you use the most?

Definitely the cheesy grin or heart emoji.

  • If you could go back in time and tell yourself anything what would it be?

You won’t be everyones cup of tea, believe in yourself and know  your worth.

  • What do you currently have set as the wallpaper on your phone?

  • If you could do anything in the world as a legitimate job what would you do?

Doing what I do now. I am an OFSTED registered childminder. Working from home and being able to be here for my family is just one perk of the job. But providing children with a safe family orientated environment to come and learn and play while their parents are working and studying is an honour.

  • Where is your favourite place in the world?

Ibiza! Ibiza was my second home growing up. I spent 20 summers holidaying on the island with my parents. It holds many precious memories. I haven’t been back since I lost my mum, but one day I will go back.

So that’s Me, Claire Rocks at This Mummy Rocks. If you see me at BlogOn X, please come and say Hi! It would be lovely to network and meet new bloggers.

See you all soon xx

Ive never been to Ibiza but heard so many good things about the island also that its very family friendly maybe one day my family and I will get there! I spend all my summers growing up on a farm in Austria It was fun but defiantly not as exiting sounding as Ibiza! BlogOn is the friendliest blogger conference going and its my favourite one you will always find somebody to chat to! Hope to see you there! AK x

That’s a great film quote, Claire! Enjoy BlogOn – it can be a bit of a whirl of people trying to say hi to everyone else but we’re a friendly bunch and the social aspect is what really makes it for most of us, so don’t be afraid to wander up to random folk and just say hi. We’ve all been conference newbies ourselves before so we know what it’s like to walk into one for the first time!

How cool to grow up in Ibiza – I have never been!
We have quite a bit in common – although I only have 4 boys.
I lost my own mother when I was 20 and also was pregnant at 17.
Look forward to meeting you 🙂

I really love your answers. The Pursuit of happyness is an awesome movie and I can hear him saying that – it’s an excellent quote.
Everything you describe about coming to your first conference is exactly how I felt and exactly what everyone else describes too – you are not alone! Relax and enjoy yourself, talk to people and pretty much everyone will chat away to you. You’ll recognise lots of people, remember very few names and never know if you follow their social media, read their blog or met them 5 minutes ago in the lift 😀
I’ll be on the sign in desk, it’ll be great to meet you 🙂
