That’s Not My Elf
We absolutely love the ‘That’s Not My’ range of books. Not only are they attractive to children with all the bright pictures, they are ‘touch and feel’ to encourage an engaging sensory factor, which makes the books more appealing. Plus the language is repetitive and simple. A great way to discover and describe textures.
Ten Little Elves
Ten Little… is another book series we love! These books compliments the learning and awareness of numbers combined with a variety of characters that your children will love. This book would go really well with anyone with doing Elf On The Shelf.
The Snowman
Now this book is a classic, which for me holds many fond memories of watching The Snowman on TV over the Christmas period. I love how it brings the magic of Christmas alive through a snowman. Truly magical.
The Jolly Christmas Postman
The Jolly Postman books are a lovely set of books that follows a post man delivering Christmas greetings to various fairy tale characters. Which includes real ‘post’ for your child to read and play! It’s a great book for interaction and a lovely story line.
The Nativity
I have always felt that children should know the true meaning of Christmas. And what better way to do it than with the Nativity story? I personally love this book as it is a touch and feel book with very simple use of language so even the youngest of children can interact with it.
Peppa’s Christmas Wish
Now would any children’s book list be complete without a Peppa Pig? Practically every child under the age of 3 has loved Peppa Pig. The thing I love about Peppa Pig books is that they are shoer, sharp and straight to the point, with lovely simple little story line that children can easily follow.
Father Christmas Needs A Wee
This book is guaranteed to make your children laugh. I mean, any type of toilet humour sets kids off into a fit of giggles, right? This book is full of fun and giggles with a lovely rhyming and number theme all the way through.
We Are Going On An Elf Chase
This is a delightful lift the flap book where four bunny’s go in search of 10 elves. It is very similar to ‘We are going on a bear hunt’ with the lovely repetition but also counting aspect to it.
The Night Before Christmas
This is the ultimate Christmas Eve book. ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse… ‘ This gorgeous pop-up book will make the classic poem magically burst into life, with scenes including a beautiful Christmas tree and Santa and his reindeer flying across the starlit sky.
Have you read any of these books? Which are your favourite? Let me know in the comments below.

Oh gosh Claire you’ve got some great books listed here! I LOVED reading the “that’s not my…” books to LP when he was little. We’ve gone through The Snowman more times than I can count and he’s just started mentioning it again and saying he’s going to look at it himself during Christmas. And as for Twas the Night Before Christmas… Classic!
Excellent list!
