Winter is sneaky. It can lay low and let us enjoy a day or two of sunshine before roaring back to life and burying us under a blanket of snow.
It’s every busy mums worst nightmare because schools close! The kids will be at home!
It’s officially a snow day!
Super Savvy parents will have a plan in place to keep the kids busy on those blustery no-school snow days.
So let me help you be that Super Savvy, ultra organised Mum and give you some Emergency Snow Day Activities to keep the kids busy and from being under our feet while you can get on with your day.
Here are some tips with that in mind
I have to admit this is one of my favourite snow day activities. While it’s cold and snowy out side, jump back into your pyjamas, bring down all the duvets and pillows. Make up some snacks and nibbles. Get all snug and warm and put on some movies.
Screen Free Time
Dust off those board games and encourage friendly competition between the kids. Get them away from their electronics and away from screen time. Encouraging them to build their social, communication and resilience skills. You could always check out my Unplugged Screen Free Fun Activities.
Get Your Craft On
What better excuse to let your children raid the arts and crafts box/cupboard and let their creative flair take over? Yes, I know the thought of the mess they will make makes you anxious and filled with dread. But the kids will think that Christmas has come early and they will love being able to paint or do some gluing and sticking.
One place I love to get my arts and crafts is Baker Ross.
Plus if you are worried about mess, check out these paint sticks from Little Brian. They’re perfect for children of all ages (supervise younger children) plus there is next to no mess when using them, but they have the same effect as paint!
If your kids are like mine, they love printable worksheets and activities. I absolutely love Twinkl for resources.
