After 5 long uncertain months, schools and families are preparing to return to school after the Covid-19 lockdown.
It’s understandable that children and parents are going to be anxious about going back to school after such a long time. The school environment as they know it will have changed dramatically.
As we prepare our children for a ‘new normal’, anxieties are heightening as we are preparing them for the new ‘unknown’. Now is the time we need to prepare our children to manage their anxieties and give them the coping tools and techniques they need to become confident, resilient and to be able to manage their emotions.

Barnardos Super Seekers
Barnardos have put together Super Seekers which is targeted for children aged 3 to 5 years old.
Children’s imagination is important not only for their emotional development but for their general wellbeing. But the recent Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown have added a huge amount of pressure to family life with parents seeing an increase in challenging behaviour in their children, and children and young people experiencing worsening mental health.
Super Seekers is a fun experience that understands how to develop life skills through imaginative play and the activity packs will help parents understand and encourage key life skills that capture their child’s creativity.
The Children’s Commissioner has created a free, downloadable Going back to school guide for kids to explain the changes they might see in the classroom and offer tips on how to cope if they’re feeling worried.
