To be on the safe side you may want to hire an expert to come and inspect your property. This will give you the ultimate peace of mind that there is no unwanted mould or mildew lurking in your home.

Get Rid of Pests

Vermin such as rats, mice, termites and bed bugs can soon become comfortable in your home if you don’t keep an eye out for the signs. Whether you’re waking up with itchiness after sleeping in your bed, or you spot mouse droppings in your attic area, these are all obvious signs that you’re dealing with a pest problem. You believe that you’re cleaning your kitchen or bathroom, but you may be causing more damage than good when it comes to the products you use. Try to make the switch to all natural, organic cleaning products that won’t pollute your home environment. There are a variety of options available in your local supermarket so keep an eye out for these options next time you’re there.

Create a Healthy Routine

When you have little ones, routine is everything, especially at home. Sticking to regular nap times, mealtimes and bedtimes can really help your child to stay on a regular schedule. A healthy environment isn’t just about physical safety, it’s about creating emotional stability in the home too.

Dedicate a Safe Space

Speaking of emotional stability, creating a cosy corner for your child to have quiet time and space away from the hustle and bustle of your home is extremely healthy. Children can easily become overwhelmed and overstimulated so it’s important that they have a space to clear their minds and feel peaceful. Thank you for sharing such important information! And as for reducing chemicals in the air, consider converting your chlorine swimming pool into a saltwater one. Although the chlorine concentration used for pool maintenance is safe, some people and especially children can be very sensitive to it and have eye and skin irritation after swimming in such a pool. Saltwater pools still contain chlorine, but they are safer because they don’t contain chlorine by-products such as chloramines.

That’s a good article – thanks! as for safety, don’t also forget that windows pose a great danger for kids. Especially for children under 6-7 years old. To ensure the safety of your child, try not to open the windows wide open to ventilate the house, use a windowpane for this. Additionally, don’t put toys and other things on the windowsills. Then they will be less attracted to your child. Last but not least, the window screens protect your house from insects but don’t protect your child from falling!

You mentioned very important things. However, you didn’t say anything about air quality in a home. Clean air is crucial for kids’ well-being and for parents as well. Poor indoor air quality can cause such ailments as respiratory diseases, headaches, fatigue, and even heart problems.

Good point! To ensure the good air quality in your home, first of all, replace air filters regularly. You can also consider installing HEPA filters. They are the best option if you’re looking for something that reduces pet dander or traps fine particulates. HEPA filters trap 99.97% of all particulates and prevent them from circulating throughout your home.

To prevent mould and mildew growth, control humidity level in you home. Too high level makes mould form on the walls and windows. The first thing you need to do if humidity level is 60% and higher is to check your air conditioner. Dirty filters or clogged condensate drain channels are often the main cause of it.

Thank you for mentioning pests! They can bring a lot of trouble in life. And it’s not just a foul smell or mouse droppings everywhere. Pests can become a real threat to our property and also to ourselves. There’s a chance these unwanted critters can chew through parts of your wiring.

By the way, very often, pests live in air ducts. Dirty air ducts are especially attractive for different types of rodents. Rodents carry in dander and leave behind droppings, which get into your airstream, spreading diseases like the hantavirus. That’s why you should remember to clean them from time to time. This is not a very frequent job (once every 3-5 years), but it can prevent many problems. Don’t neglect it.
