The Importance Of Family Games Nights

As a family, together we have made a commitment to make sure that we spend more quality time with each other. My boys are now at an age where they all enjoy playing games and they ask us regularly to play games with them, as well as each other. I’m  a great believer in communication and relationship building. Family games nights are perfect for these.

Family game nights help develop important life skills such as good communication skills, problem solving, strategy, teamwork, and great sportsmanship.family games night jengaA family that plays together stays together!

I like to research games before choosing the ones that I feel are right for our family. These games need to be entertaining for everyone, including my husband and me! With having a large age range to please, this can sometimes be tricky.

When choosing games, I make sure I read the reviews to get an idea of how the game is played and if it’s something we will all enjoy. It needs to be a game that’s so fun that it will “survive” my next decluttering session.family games night Quality

The quality of a game is also important to me. I like games that are well made. I need games to last and not fall apart the first time we play. That includes the box that the game comes in as well as the pieces or cards inside the box. Games are an investment and I want them to last a good few years, at least! It’s not fun to have broken or torn pieces to a game. I make sure the games are something that can easily be stored and games that are designed to last.family games night Educational

I look for games that are educational. Many of the games we have are educational and some are more for just simply having fun. I like to find games that help my boys with valuable maths and  english skills. I also like games that challenge their thinking and help their memory. Learning while playing is very important to us. If they can have fun learning, I’m a happy mum.family games night Affordable

I always try to make sure I find good deals on games before buying. I like to browse through the games at Amazon to add to our games collection! Especially with their Amazon Prime Next Day delivery service!

we’ve always played games with our kids. Faves being UNO and Monopoly . We keep score sheets in all our games boxes dating back to when they first played (with monopoly – date, who won, how many hotels , how much cash)… They’re 36,34 and 20 now and still when any of them are home we have a games night, difference these days is theres more drinking and swearing involved, especially if its Cards Against Humanity or Pictionary!

I am so with you on this! I have stacks of board games and we usually pull them out at Xmas. But now that the summer is here, we’ve been playing so much more – and as a family too. We’ve already had numerous games of Monopoly and Cluedo. I think the Jenga is coming out tonight. It’s cheap and cheerful and fun for us to spend so much QT together #AnythingGoes

We have so many on your list. Little Man especially likes Junior Monopoly. Although it’s rather embarrassing when he wins all the time! We recently played Cards Against Humanity with some friends and it is so funny – one for when the kids are in bed though! Thanks for sharing with #TriumphantTales

We actually have quite a few of these games and others are on my list when the kids get older! I used to love playing games with my parents as kids and want to do the same with our kids #TriumphantTales
