Preparing Your Home For Spring

Spring is just around the corner and it is exciting! After hibernating through the winter, we are all looking forward to flowers blooming, warm weather, and the opportunity to see friends socially distanced outside. The change of seasons doesn’t just mean updating your wardrobe to fit the weather. You have to prepare your home, too! Today, we are going to look at a few ways to get your home best prepped for spring.

Check Your Air Conditioning:

Prior to the warm weather, it is essential that you schedule a maintenance check for your air conditioning to make sure that everything is in working order. Time is also of the essence because you want your house to be completely ready for the stifling hot days of summer and repair services will be heavily booked come May and June. Booking an AC Repair now means your home will be comfortable and safe as soon as the warm weather hits.

Let The Air In:

After a long winter inside, your home could definitely use some airing out to help circulate the dry, stale air. On moderate days, crack the windows or open the doors to let a cool breeze in. It will make your house feel so much fresher and it will be nice to hear the birds singing!

Spring Clean:

Speaking of making your house feel fresher, don’t forget a healthy dose of spring cleaning! Nothing makes a house feel lighter and brighter than a good top to bottom clean. Declutter, sanitize, and even rearrange your furniture to help open up the space in your home. Work at a moderate pace in sections until you are done with the home in its entirety and it will feel as good as new! If the scents of cleaning products are overwhelming for you, your cleaning could take place on a warmer day when you can open your windows.

Do A Walk Through Outdoors:

You will have no idea of any potential damages that the winter weather could have caused the exterior of your home without taking a look. Walk around your outdoor property and take note of any cracks or holes, branches that might need cutting, cracks in your driveway, and evidence of pests so that you can get it taken care of immediately. Left untreated, all of these issues can cause even bigger and more expensive fixes later.

Prepare An Outdoor Space:

When the weather is nice, social distanced hang outs outside can happen. This means that you will want a space in your backyard where you can enjoy some company. Refinish the deck or patio and invest in some comfortable and durable outdoor furniture. You can find plenty of inspiration for light recipes to host a safe garden party and outdoor games that can be played from a social distance are a must. Horse shoes, bocce ball, croquet, and cornhole are all garden party entertainment essentials and can easily be played from six feet apart.

Don’t forget that it’s hard to have a lot of fun outside if there isn’t a proper space to cool down. Sun Setters and a table with a big umbrella will allow all of your guests to keep cool without having to retreat into the air conditioning. Remember, it is still the best option to socialize outdoors so it’s safer to limit any time spent in your household with company.

Putting the work into your home now will give you the opportunity to fully enjoy the spring, which will be here in less than a month! But who’s counting? Prepare your space completely, indoors, and out, and you will be ready to have company over safely for a garden party before you know it.

Hi there! Nice tips! And as for air conditioners, don’t forget to check their filters and clean them if necessary. Actually, it should be done at least once every three months. Otherwise, dirty filters of your air conditioner can be the cause of poor indoor air quality.

Thank you! Love this post. By the way, in addition to all things that you’ve mentioned, I’d like to suggest changing the thick winter curtains to light ones. Light curtains will allow the natural light in your house. The sun’s rays, in turn, will warm your rooms. This way you will spend less energy on heating.

By the way, pros recommend changing air conditioner filters at least once every three months. But you should aim to check your filter every month during the peak winter and summer months when it’s likely that your system will be running at almost maximum capacity for long periods. Thank you for sharing such great tips!
