9 Reasons Why I Love Autumn

leaves happiness

I don’t know about you, but I feel like this year has flown by! Can you believe it’s Autumn already?

The leaves are starting to fall off the trees, there is that chill in the air, the darker nights have well and truly made themselves welcome and there is ‘that’ Autumn smell in the air. I absolutely adore Autumn, always have and here’s why….

Reasons why I love Autumn leaves happy woman
  • So many celebrations to look forward to. In our house alone we have 6 birthdays between September and December to celebrate. On top of Halloween, Bonfire night and the run up to Christmas.
  • Changing wardrobes. I love to be comfortable and practical and for me that means jumper dresses, leggings and ankle boots. This is my staple Autumn/Winter wardrobe.
  • Going for walks in our local woods or to a local park such as Hardwick Park, where we can blow off the cobwebs, get some fresh air and be in the thick of Autumn. While getting the kids to collect Autumn treasures.
  • Having an excuse to put our pjs on earlier than normal, drink hot chocolate and snuggle under a duvet to watch movies together.
  • Watching the kids excitement as the take part in Halloween activities and dressing up to go trick or treating.
  • Making warm and comforting stews and casseroles in the slow cooker.
  • Once Autumn hits means its my cue to start preparing for Christmas. With 6 kids to organise gifts for I need to be organised to make it magical for them all.
  • Having our own fireworks display in the garden followed by campfire stew made in the slow cooker and ginger or toffee cake and custard to finish.
  • This song brings back so many fond memories of Harvest festival celebrations at school.

Some great reasons to love Autumn here. I second your casserole reason, it’s great to get the slow cooker back out again! #dreamteam

I’m with you all the way, autumn is so beautiful and the woods are stunning at this time of year, the only think I don’t like are the dark early evenings. #DreamTeam

I love autumn too, especially the changing colours. Your Autumn wardrobe staples are the same as mine, I love my jumper dresses, leggings and ankle boots 🙂

I love all of your reasons – especially the one about birthdays. The four of us have our birthdays in November and so it’s always a special time for us. I love the getting into PJs earlier thing and hot chocolate for sure. Happy Autumn days x #DreamTeam

I think I left a super-long comment but cannot see it registered. Anyway I agree with you on the joys of Autumn and most of our birthdays are stacked at the end of the year too. Also I was adopted or taken to my adoptive family anyway on Bonfire NIght and mum convinced me for years that the fireworks were all about me. Fond memories of crunching and dancing in Autumn leaves with her too. Conkers, long country walks, hot buttered toast – all great! #AnythingGoes

I am a big fan of autumn … as befits a September baby perhaps, but the changing of the leaves, the crisp sunshine, the soft entry into winter … I love it. And lovely photographs too BTW, Claire #DreamTeam

I live in the Southern US and we really don’t have fall! There are no leaves to change color and it is October and we are still having 90 degree days and 80 degree nights. I do wear my boots (even though it is way too hot) because it is after Labor Day and I am protesting mother nature’s insistence that it is still summer!

I really enjoyed your post. Oh, and who needs an excuse to put on your PJ’s early? I know I sure don’t! LOL Enjoy some of fall for me please!

I love autumn and often think it’s my favourite season, but I actually love them all. Autumn colours, chilly evenings, jumpers and hot chocolate – lovely! Not to forget autumn clothes and boots. #triumphanttales

We used to sing Autumn Days when I was at school and I had forgotten all about it until last year when I was in an assembly watching my little boy sing it with the rest of the school. I was transported back in time 30 years – I loved it. It’s a wonderful time of the year. I prefer the bright sunny days as opposed to the rainy ones though! Thanks for sharing with #TriumphantTales, do come back next week!

I don’t mind autumn, as long as it’s not drizzling! We love Hardwick Park too – my little girl particularly likes it if it’s been raining and there are loads of puddles. She always comes back covered in mud! #kcacols

In many ways I do love autumn. However, it also makes me feel a bit uneasy as I don’t always cope to well with winter, and I can sense it approaching as it gets colder and darker. I’ve lived a larged part of my life outside Stockholm (Sweden), and it’s the long, dark winters there which have caused me these issues x
