Try and erase your debt

One of the best places to start when you are struggling to save money is to look at how much debt you are having to pay towards each month. Sometimes you don’t understand how much you are paying in interest each month on your debts so by getting a loan to consolidate your debts into one payment or by paying off chunks of debts before you start to save are going to free up some money to put away each month.

Look into your equity

If you own a house then remortgaging your house to get a better rate and also reducing your interest you are going to be able to save some money each month. You can also look at releasing some of your mortgages early this way you get back some of the money you have already paid off on the house and it gives you an injection of cash, you can get mortgage advice and professional help easily these days if you are unsure about how to do this.

Set some savings goals

If it is the motivation you struggle with when it comes to saving then setting yourself some goals is a great place to start because having a goal you can work towards it will help you to stay on track. If you set goals for the short, medium, and long term you will make sure you always have something keeping you on track. The goals can be anything you want them to be just make sure you make them achievable otherwise you are going to end up with demotivation.

Give up bad habits

Bad habits like smoking and drinking are expensive habits to have, so by cutting these out you are going to free up money each month. To put it into perspective, calculate how much you spend on your bad habits and you will realise that over months and the year it will really add up and actually cost you a lot of money. It can be hard to cut out the bad habits so seek help should you need it and do not do anything with seeking medical advice first if you have an addiction to any substances.

If you are looking to save some money no matter what it is for and you are unsure how to get started or you are looking for ideas then these few tips should give you an understanding of what you can do and help you get started.

    You can save a lot of money if you reconsider your use of electricity. In summer, first of all pay attention to your air conditioner. If you haven’t changed filters for a long time, replace them. Dirty filters make the device work harder and consume much more energy. You can also hang blackout curtains that will block sunlight – this will help you keep your house cool. This way, the cooling of your home can become 25-30% more efficient.

    Another thing you can do in order to save more money is to reduce your utility bills. Here are some things you can do for this:
    – reduce shower time
    – use tankless water heater options
    – turn off the faucet tap while brushing your teeth and lather your hands
    – scrub the dishes before turning the water on to rinse them
    – use drip irrigation to water the garden
    – use cold water instead of hot water when washing clothes
    – properly maintain air conditioning system (e.g. replace air filters regularly)
    – use the thermostat to your advantage

    Good tips – thank you! If you want to save money, reconsider your energy consumption. Unconscious energy consumption can cost you a lot of money, while reducing the amount of energy you use will reduce your bills by 20-30%. Here are some tips on it:
    – Switch to energy-efficient light bulbs;
    – Change air conditioner filters regularly;
    – Keep air vents open and clear;
    – Replace old appliances;
    – Use a programmable thermostat;
    – Turn off lights and “vampire” electronics.

    Good suggestion! I would also add such a thing here as improving home energy efficiency. After all, we spend a tidy sum every month just to keep our homes warm in winter and cool in summer.
    For this, consider installing a smart thermostat. It’s a relatively cheap investment that can help you save a lot of money in the long run.
